If you haven't been here, you probably don't
understand our special love of it.
Like the Dixieland song says, it's that
"honeysuckle heaven by the name of Mobile."
It's a special place, all right, Mobile Bay
and the Alabama Gulf Shore. The whole area
permeated by sea and sky.
As Mobile's native son Jimmy Buffet has
sung, "Mother, Mother Ocean, I have heard
your call./Wanted to sail upon your waters
since I was three feet tall …"
And permeated by history. It's alive here in
Mobile. You can see it in the street names
and live oaks and white-columned Antebellum
mansions. On her perfect natural harbor,
Mobile has seen the centuries. Few people
know, for instance, that Mardi Gras began in
310-year-old Mobile – not upstart New
Orleans decades later.
All that – and the sugar-sand beaches of the
Alabama Gulf Coast just down the road.
From Biloxi's
casino glitz to Gulfport's gumbo to
Dixieland in New Orleans' French Quarter.
Even for retirees, there aren't enough days
in the week!
Mobile & the Eastern Shore: the quality of
life is high – but the cost of living is
not.
Real estate is about relationships. After
all, you're putting families in homes. And
as a client once told me about the Eastern
Shore, "Even though the cars are fancy, the
people are not." That says a lot about the
people of Mobile Bay. It's why you'll feel
at home here.
Hi, I'm Heather Augustin – and I want to be
your real-estate "matchmaker" here in Mobile
and on Alabama's Eastern Shore.
As you'll see as you read on, I have a
special skill-set and knowledge base for our
area that you can use to make your search
for a home here as easy as possible.
Like 15 years experience in Eastern Shore
real estate – Fairhope, Daphne, Montrose,
Point Clear and Spanish Fort, Alabama. No
one knows the market like I do.
Like partnering with my husband, Christian
Augustin of New Haven Homes, one of the
area's finest custom-home builders. I know
real estate from the slab up. From the
rafters down. And everything in between. The
flaws and finishes and fauxes. The floor
plans and flooring and fencing.
And most of all, I have a special commitment
to and passion for matching clients with the
home of their fantasies. Not almost or
second best. Going the extra mile –
literally sometimes – to find exactly what
they're looking for. Then helping with all
the details once they've settled on it.
Daphne to Fairhope, Montrose to Mobile,
Spanish Fort to Point Clear – and all of the
Alabama Gulf Coast beyond – if you're
searching for a home, make Heather Augustin
your partner.
"Sweet Home, Alabama": Gulf Coast, Mobile
Bay & The Eastern Shore
I know I'm prejudiced – but it's hard to
imagine a better place to live than Mobile
and the Bay's Eastern Shore. Consider: The
best of city and country and small town.
Award-winning schools and the kind of living
history that comes with a 300-year-old city.
Fabulous nature in the "Forever Wild" Mobile
Delta – with its 22 rivers, the second
largest after the Mississippi Delta. Pro
baseball and the "college bowl" capital of
the South. A "family-friendly" Mardi Gras
and breath-taking Bellengrath Gardens.
Several fishing tournaments and a stop on
the LPGA golf tour.
A dozen museums – one with IMAX – and the
historic Saenger Theatre. A Carnival cruise
ship at our new Alabama Cruise Terminal
ready to shove off for the Mayan Riviera. A
round of golf over some of the courses in
the famed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Beautiful Gulf Beaches with their quartzite
"sugar" sand and green-blue water.
Add to that a year-round, "winterless"
climate. Beautiful custom homes with sticker
prices far below their northern
counterparts. Award-winning schools and
abundant shopping. A recreational
smorgasbord that includes sailing, canoeing,
fishing, kayaking, hiking, walking, biking,
golf, tennis and beautiful beaches.
And that's not to mention all of the
exciting Gulf Coast spread out for you along
the I-10 corridor! Biloxi casinos to quaint
Cajun Bayou La Battre to the Crescent City
herself!
You can see people's love of the area in
their pride of possession for their homes.
You know what I mean. The well-tended yards
with frequent shrubbery upgrades. The charm
– and time – that goes into the decorated
trash containers The faithfully – and
expensively – restored historic homes, some
centuries old – and said to be haunted!
But maybe Mobile's greatest "amenity" is the
people. Old South hospitality and Old World
charm have always been the hallmarks of
Alabama.
Wide smiles and warm hello's. A sugary
beignet and chicory coffee shared with new
friends beneath wrought iron on cobblestone
streets. The little things that bring people
from all over the world to our towns of
Fairhope, AL, Daphne, AL, Spanish Fort, AL
and Mobile, AL.
History: the French, the British, the
Spanish – Mobile is a cultural "gumbo."
For millennia, water has been the chosen
mode of conveyance for both commerce and
travel. – even after the dawn of horse-drawn
travel. For that reason, coastal cities –
especially those like Mobile, blessed with a
deep, protected natural harbor and an
extensive delta system of waterways – are
centuries older than their inland cousins,
centuries older than the United States
herself.
Like Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA, and
even New Orleans itself, Mobile is permeated
by the past.
You see it in the majestic Antebellum homes
with their hallmark fluted Doric columns. In
the cobblestone streets with their French
names and the gracious, oak-shaded parks
where people gather to enjoy their lunches.
In the formal gardens and cannonade forts
that flank the harbor mouth.
You feel time in the humidity of a summer's
day. You smell it in the camellias and
magnolias and dogwoods that scent the days
of late spring.
And historic Mobile is full of surprises.
For instance, not many people know that
Mobile – not New Orleans – is the city of
origin for Mardi Gras.
Nor do many folks know that our fair city is
over 300 years old – one of the oldest in
America.
Nor that Mobile was the last city to fall
during the Civil War – and that next-door
Blakeley State Park preserves and
commemorates the last major land battle of
the "War Between Brothers."

Mobile Bay's Eastern Shore, Alabama Gulf
Coast, all of Mobile and Baldwin Counties –
homes, condos, home sites – whatever your
preference, Heather can find it.
Homes are as individual as their owners –
and if a Realtor is above all a matchmaker,
then she must know all the potential matches
available to her clients.
Take a look at our listings. If nothing
there strikes your fancy, use the MLS search
feature to broaden your choices.
Next, make a short list and let's hit the
road. They call me the Energizer Bunny for
my boundless energy.
You give us the time – we'll find what
you're looking for. Or build it.
